4/28 Two new restaurants will await us this year
on Fire Island. In Ocean Beach it's "The Hideaway" (formerly China Beach)
under new Management. And in Robbins Rest the "Tequila Jack's Grill and
Cantina" (formerly Sandbar) serving a fusion of Caribbean and
South-Western. We are very much looking forward to sampling both.
4/25 The long-awaited first ever Fire Island School Reunion details are

Fire Island is one the ten most endangered Parks.

4/8 Michael's Restaurant in Cherry Grove burns to the ground Sunday
Morning 4am. Fire said to have started in the kitchen. Ocean Beach's Fire
Volunteers respond together with all other Fire Island Departments to put
out the fire and prevent more damage.

3/1 11th Coastal Policy Conference Invitation,
Friday, March 23, 2001. The Long Island Coastal Alliance (LICA)
will host its conference on Friday, March 23. at Southampton College,
whose curriculum in Marine and Environmental Science is increasingly well
known. Sponsors (to date) include First Coastal Corporation and the Long
Island Shore & Beach Preservation Association. This year's conference will
be of special interest to those who care about Fire Island, as pressure
grows for government to acquire properties there. For

a brawl at a FD-Holiday Party, Holiday travelers not reaching their Fire
